Springtime flowers are in bloom,
the scent of love is in the air,
the one who holds the key has found you,
and opened up the door
you’ve locked so tight
and guarded for so long.
But when that cold wind starts to blow
and the autumn leaves are falling,
the one you loved has gone away,
and now you feel like
you’re the only one
who can understand your pain.
You’ve got to fake it till you make it,
you’ve got to really want to grow;
but don’t go looking for the wisdom,
until you’re sure you want to know.
Looking back on yesterday,
you recall so much confusion,
the life you thought you knew so well,
was only part of an illusion,
we sometimes fail to see.
But every time we heal a wound,
it echoes through the universe;
it resonates with understanding,
and shows the way for those who want to know
and choose to go in peace.
You’ve got to fake it till you make it
you’ve got to really want to grow,
but don’t go looking for the wisdom,
until you’re sure you want to know.
you’ve got to really want to grow,
but don’t go looking for the wisdom,
until you’re sure you want to know.
You say you want to change the world,
but the task is just so daunting;
but still you know you can’t resign,
to live a life in mediocrity
when you’ve learnt to see new ways.
Learn how to ask for what you need,
give without measure in return;
and make a difference when you can,
and when you can’t just know that it’s OK
for you to let it be.
You’ve got to fake it till you make it,
you’ve got to really want to grow,
but don’t go looking for the wisdom,
until you’re sure you want to know.
no don’t go looking for the wisdom,
until you’re sure you want to know.
you’ve got to really want to grow,
but don’t go looking for the wisdom,
until you’re sure you want to know.
no don’t go looking for the wisdom,
until you’re sure you want to know.

Author notes
All there is in life is practice. There is no finishing point, there is no parade “when you get it”, it’s all just practice. The common expression is that there are no mistakes, only lessons and in that vein we will take many lessons, some over and over but eventually we will arrive at a place of knowing that takes us to a higher vibration in life. We do the best we can given the tools we have at any given moment and often that requires us to fake it till you make it.

Dear Friend and fellow searcher,
Your thoughtful poems and Buddhist teachings always give me good for thought. I am glad when I can pass them on to my friends who are recovering Alcoholics and Adicts. They have much to learn and your knowledge can be another tool they can use on their journey to a new life. I have been sober 37 years and a practising Buddist for over 55 years. Thank you for enriching my practice.
