“Let there be no scales to weigh your unknown treasure, and seek the depths of your knowledge with staff or sounding line. For self is a sea boundless and measureless. Say not I have found the truth, but rather, I have met the soul walking along my path, for the soul walks along all paths. The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed. The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.” ~ Khalil Gibran

When self love proves elusive;
merit conspicuous in its absence,
life perceived and lived
through a lens of scarcity;
a mindset adrift and disoriented
donning this insidious cloak
of unworthiness,
fundamentally flawed;
therefore I am unlovable;

I’m just not enough:
not smart enough,
strong enough
not deserving of happiness
(make your own list),
contentment becomes a pinnacle
we will never reach,
an unshakable belief in
failure.

Yet when we unearth our false refuge,
our spurious stories,
we finally hear
whispers and promises,
conversations with our mettle
conveying wisdom’s coordinates,
a divined destination;

where heart intersects with mind,
a most profound journey
guiding us to unflinching clarity
where we discover truth,
our quest for acceptance,
belonging and safety,
a lotus of countless petals.
