“The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love and to let it come in”
~Morrie Schwartz
Somewhere between dairy and produce
you discovered the freshness of desire;
after the Brie and before the cilantro,
you felt the stirring.
You weren’t looking,
but still you saw…
but still you saw…
that glance,
lasting one nano-second too long
to qualify for casual acceptance.
Between house wares and baking
the shopping trip becomes a mission,
your radar scanning every aisle,
looking for those eyes.
A neophyte in ways of the heart,
yet hard wired all the same,
you leap from cliffs of only-ness
plummeting into passion’s possibilities.
Checking in at the check out line,
your pounding pulse reverberates
through the chambers of
your hungry heart.
What ifs, and then whats
crowd your galloping mind;
waffling between panic and exhilaration
you offer…
“did we just have a moment?”
