Imagining what it is like to be someone other than yourself is at the core of our humanity.
It is the essence of compassion, and it is the beginning of morality.
~ Ian McEwan
Hold me,
darling hold me,
please just hold me,
and never let me go.
Kiss me,
hmm just kiss me,
with loving lips just bliss me,
then tell me that it’s so;
darling hold me,
please just hold me,
and never let me go.
hmm just kiss me,
with loving lips just bliss me,
then tell me that it’s so;
tell me you long for what we have
all that we need
is in this moment here together,
awakening hearts,
we are one.
Life is,
what we make it,
when it fills our cup we take it,
to quench our thirsty soul.
is to breathing,
as love is to receiving
that’s what makes us whole.
live like tomorrow is today;
believe in the glue
that holds this world together,
you’re never alone,
we are one.
darling hold me,
please just hold me,
and never let me go.
hmm just kiss me,
with loving lips justbliss me,
then tell me that it’s so;
tell me you long for what we have
give way to your wants,
let yearning hearts deliver,
through heavenly gates
we are one.
Author Notes
I have been working on this song/poem since Michelle and I first got together. The melody came first and swirled around inside my head for weeks before I was able to put down a few words; first two verses. Only recently (years later) as I witness the health challenges that Michelle is dealing with and has yet to go through did the rest of the words flow out. In the final analysis I have come to understand that the message is as much for me as it is for Michelle; we are one.
