About Henri Ferguson

Poetry, storytelling and song writing are members of the same family. I have a deep appreciation for the literary arts and believe that creative writing whatever its form, render a fleeting glimpse, a snippet of insight into the author's inner world. To live an unexamined life is our greatest travesty and consequently we cannot grow as we are intended to without putting ourselves under a compassionate lens of scrutiny. Writing can do this by giving us a strategy to crystallize those thoughts and emotions that so often elude clarity and self knowing. Journaling, writing poetry can be a catharsis in this process leading to a new awareness of whom and what we are. The journey of self discovery ultimately opens the door to the spiritual growth and evolution we so richly deserve.

Idle No More

"The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference." Clearly the Idle No More movement is a very multifaceted situation that is spawning many heated and often dogmatic opinions. True to the cess pool that politics can be, some folks hang on to these opinions like it was their life line. The more this polarised debate drags on, [...]

A Spirit Undaunted

“We imagine we know our children, but they too are a vast dark continent, in which the glow of city lights here and there lets us, know we are over land, but little else.”  ~ David Gilmour “The Perfect Order of Things.” Undaunted spirit, blithe and mischievous mind, wide loving heart, dwelling behindbeaming pools of [...]

We Are One

Imagining what it is like to be someone other than yourself is at the core of our humanity. It is the essence of compassion, and it is the beginning of morality. ~ Ian McEwan Hold me, darling hold me, please just hold me, and never let me go.   Kiss me, hmm just kiss me, with loving lips just bliss me, then tell me that it’s [...]

Time Enough

“The butterfly counts not years but moments and has time enough”. ~ Rabindranath Tagore. Nobel Laureate (1861-1941)  Years ago, feels like moments since,I knocked on a warrior’s door.  Breaching your fortified heart, letting this outsider in,  your sacred love oozing out, yielding to promise.   Unfolding  herstory of challenges unforeseen, forbidding realities, beyond comprehension.   Compromised crossing over the Battle River, soul searing [...]

You Will Do No Wrong

"There was that law of life, so cruel and so just, which demanded that one must grow or else pay more for remaining the same." ~ Norman MailerFor some of us it seems the process of letting goleaves claw marks on the walls of the soul. And yet, letting go…it’s all so simple really. Yielding to those doors [...]

The Kiss of God

“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.” ~J.R.R. Tolkien (The Fellowship of the Ring) And with your hungry answers, mutedin the enormity of silent wisdom, obscuredin the forsaken mindscapes of infinity, submergedin your aching ocean of emotion the kiss of God is upon you.   Love is what we’re born with, fear is what is learned, there is [...]

Sparrow Nights

Sparrow Nights: Russian name for sleepless nights with bad dreams~ David Gilmour “The Perfect Order of Things”    Sleep beckons with adamant yawns of lassitude, whilst a restive voice drones on.Mumbling pebbles skipping across a placid lake, mirrors ameandering mind in motion, spawning rippleson a surface simply seeking stillness;request denied.   My attention a bewildered apeswinging aimlessly through this subconscious junglebranch to branch, thought [...]
